Lexus Launched the 2013 Lexus ES 300 Hybrid and Lexus ES 350 at the 2012 New York Auto Show

Lexus was one of the popular car makers that were able to launch their latest car models in the recently concluded 2012 New York Auto Show. During the event, Lexus surprised the audience by revealing not one but two of the vehicle models that they intend to add to their existing vehicle line-up for this year. To everybody's surprise, Lexus has announced that their dealerships would be selling the 2013 Lexus ES 350 and the 2013 Lexus ES 300 sedans.

Although the audience that were present in the 2012 New York Auto Show were surprised by the launching that Lexus has done, most of them were further amazed when the car maker announced that the 2013 Lexus ES 300 sedan would be introduced as a hybrid model. This simply means that the vehicle will not only be relying on a gasoline engine but on the collective output produced by a gas-powered engine and probably a larger as well as more powerful electric motor.

According to Lexus, the 2013 Lexus ES 300 hybrid sedan is using the gasoline/electric powertrain which is quite similar to what the popular Toyota Camry Hybrid is using. In order to come up with the ES 300 hybrid sedan's unique power sources, Lexus has paired the electric motor to a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. The electric motor and the engine take turns in propelling the vehicle, thus the engine does not consume larger amounts of fuel just like most conventional cars since the electric motor is also serving as the sedan's power source in various situations. As a result, Lexus expects that the 2013 Lexus ES 300 hybrid sedan will be able to obtain an EPA-estimated combined fuel economy rating of up to 40 miles per gallon.

But aside from the 2013 Lexus ES 300 hybrid sedan that was launched at the 2012 New York Auto Show, Lexus has also made an announcement about the engine and the transmission used on the 2013 Lexus ES 350 that they are also planning to release in the market together with the ES 300 hybrid sedan. According to Lexus, this sedan will be powered by a 3.3-liter V-6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Unfortunately, Lexus has failed to provide the buying public with the needed information about the ES 350's power output and the possible fuel economy figures.

Instead of revealing the possible maximum power output and the fuel economy figures that the V-6-powered ES 300 sedan would be providing, Lexus has assured the buying public that the two ES sedan models will surely delight those who are interested in purchasing any of these models since these sedans are flaunting a more daring design, spacious interiors, and excellent running performance.
